Overview / What This Opportunity Entails
The Senior Security Officer ensures all security operations align strictly with the National Security Programme, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and relevant government legislation.
In this role, you will maintain compliance across IATA, ICAO, and local regulatory body standards (including TCAA). You will audit ground handling agents, oversee aircraft access control, conduct flight observations, and investigate security breaches across passenger, cargo, and catering operations.

Core Details & Key Responsibilities
Your daily duties will center on operational oversight, threat mitigation, and compliance auditing:
- Operational Controls: Ensure pre-flight security checks, catering security controls, and aircraft access logs are performed and signed off.
- Service Audits: Monitor contracted Ground Handling Agents (GHA), private security service providers (SSP), cargo handlers, and catering providers against established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Flight Oversight: Conduct ad-hoc security observations from check-in through boarding and arrival phases.
- Asset & Passenger Safety: Coordinate patrolling across assigned gates, buildings, installations, and aircraft to prevent and investigate offences.
- Permit Management: Initiate and submit airport access permit applications while managing the surrender of expired or withdrawn credentials.
- Reporting & Intel: Collect security intelligence on suspicious activities, compile monthly operational reports, and submit investigation files to the Head of Security Services.
Self-Qualification: Do You Match the Profile?

- Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, alongside a Diploma in Security Management (or equivalent).
- Sector Experience: Minimum of 5 years of active experience in Aviation Security with a clean criminal record.
- Mandatory Certification: Must hold current AVSEC STP 123 training.
- Regulatory Mastery: Well-versed in airline security policies, IATA, ICAO, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Technical & Licensing: Strong knowledge of CCTV/security systems, emergency policies, and a clean, valid driver’s license.
- Prior Background: Previous service as a Police Officer, Military Police Officer, or Security Supervisor is a distinct plus.
(Added Advantage: Certification as an AVSEC Instructor or AVSEC Auditor).
