Overview / What This Opportunity Entails

The I.T. Administrator serves as a key technical member of the Embassy’s Diplomatic Technology team. In this role, you will manage, administer, and secure on-premises and cloud-hosted IT infrastructure to ensure strict system confidentiality, integrity, and operational availability.

You will deliver Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support across multiple channels, execute system analysis, oversee configuration management, and audit systems for security compliance. This role has a post-wide operational impact across embassy departments.

Core Details & Key Responsibilities

Your daily duties will span technical support, network administration, and system security:

  • Technical Support: Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for on-premises and cloud-hosted applications, platforms, and server systems.
  • Service Desk Management: Triage tickets, process service requests, and resolve IT incidents in alignment with established service desk targets and ICASS standards.
  • Network & Infrastructure Administration: Conduct system analysis, manage hardware/software configurations, and assist with network security protocols.
  • Compliance & Audits: Execute system audits for security compliance, enforce data security measures, and educate users on information security best practices.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with diplomatic and technical teams to address complex system issues and support diplomatic technology initiatives.

Self-Qualification: Do You Match the Profile?

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Library and Data Science/Analytics, or Audio/Visual Communications and Technology.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of active experience in computer networking operations, network management, or computer systems utilization.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluent English (speaking, reading, and writing) PLUS good working knowledge of Bemba or Nyanja.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of systems analysis and design, computer equipment operations, hardware/software/cloud technology, networking, and application software development concepts.
  • Technical & Soft Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and OpenOffice, alongside strong cross-cultural communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Clearance & Onboarding: Ability to pass a Public Trust background investigation, obtain a Security Certificate, and start work within 6 weeks of receiving final clearance.
