In this hands-on technical role, you will safely execute preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on heavy earthmoving machinery. Your main goal is to maximize equipment availability and reliability while maintaining strict adherence to company safety standards and mine site regulations.
Core Details & Key Responsibilities
Your daily duties will center on heavy equipment service, troubleshooting, and shop management:
- Preventive Maintenance: Inspect and test vehicles, perform engine tune-ups, execute oil changes, balance wheels, and replace filters to keep equipment field-ready.
- Diagnostics & Repairs: Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, repair engine failures, fix body damage, and replace worn components on ancillary machinery.
- Testing & Inspection: Conduct post-maintenance test drives and adjust system controls to verify full vehicle serviceability and compliance with safety standards.
- Record Keeping & Inventory: Maintain accurate logs of all repairs and services performed. Monitor shop supplies, track inventory, and evaluate parts/warranty options to control costs.
- Shop Equipment Upkeep: Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot workshop tools according to prescribed operating instructions.
- Mentorship: Provide continuous training and skills development for direct reports, with a dedicated focus on national Zambian staff.
