Overview / What This Opportunity Entails

First Quantum operates under the “First Quantum Way”—a culture that encourages independent thinking, challenging convention, and taking bold approaches to solve complex operational challenges.

In this strategic leadership and coaching role, you will provide expert guidance across regional FQM mining sites. You will design, implement, and refine asset lifecycle frameworks that boost machine reliability, eliminate downtime, and drive down operational costs. While accountability for day-to-day site performance rests with local managers, you will serve as the primary visionary and change agent powering long-term maintenance excellence.

Core Details & Key Responsibilities

Your strategic duties will center on leadership, continuous improvement, and reliability engineering:

  • Strategic Asset Oversight: Develop and implement best-practice frameworks for asset management and lifecycle strategy across regional site operations.
  • Reliability Engineering: Drive advanced maintenance methodologies—including Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Predictive/Condition-Based Maintenance (PdM).
  • Process Improvement: Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies to streamline maintenance workflows and eliminate systemic operational waste.
  • CMMS & Data Analytics: Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and statistical failure prediction tools to extract data-driven operational insights.
  • Change Management & Coaching: Influence and mentor cross-functional maintenance teams, fostering a culture of innovation, proactive safety, and accountability.
  • Budget & Resource Optimization: Oversee capital allocations, evaluate project return on investment (ROI), and align maintenance budgets with regional business goals.

Self-Qualification: Do You Match the Profile?

Review these non-negotiable requirements before submitting your credentials:

  • Academic Credentials: Mandatory Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Asset Management, or a related discipline. (A Master’s Degree in Engineering Management or an MBA is an added advantage).
  • Total Experience: 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in maintenance management, asset management, or reliability engineering within heavy industry (Mining, Oil & Gas, Energy, Utilities, or Infrastructure).
  • Leadership Experience: Minimum of 5 to 7 years in a senior leadership role managing cross-functional technical teams and leading large-scale change management projects.
  • Methodology Mastery: Hands-on experience executing RCM, TPM, PdM, Lean, or Six Sigma frameworks in large-scale operational environments.
  • Technical & Soft Skills: Deep knowledge of CMMS platforms, advanced data interpretation, strategic financial planning, and strong negotiation skills.
